I am very excited to be working with the 6th grade of Henry Ford Middle School for the 2014-2015 school year. I will do my best to update this page weekly with information from the lessons.

Lab Safety Rules and Procedures– Today we covered the lab safety rules. Tomorrow (8/13) we will cover the lab symbols. Below is the link to the video presented in class.

lab safety test day– Powerpoint presented in todays class before the test. If you are in 6th Period, you have a 1 paragraph essay due on respect. This must be brought in signed by a parent no later than 8/21!
Today we passed out textbooks. Students, you may keep them at home. We also worked on a textbook scavenger hunt to familiarize you with the book. (I need to scan this into my computer to post so I will post it asap).
Today we talked about observations and inferences. Remember to finish the vocabulary for Unit 1 Lesson 1 for homework (pg. 6) Observations and inferences.

Hey class, today we took a test on observations and inferences.
We also, as a 6th grade, need to work on our behavior in class. I can not teach you what you need if the class can’t follow directions. This is something we all need to work on, not just one person.
2nd, 3rd, 5th: Essay on ‘Scientific Method Mighty Python” is due Monday.
4th and 6th: Unit 1 Lesson 2 copy due

Today we broke down the steps of the scientific method. We talked about variables in an experiment. See the link below for the power point.
8/28/14 and 8/29/14
Bubble gum lab. We made some adjustments. (10 minutes changed to 3 minutes and the last two columns of the table were not used but the number of chews per piece was recorded. On friday we analyzed the data, make a graph, and made our conclusion.

Study guide for the test on Thursday is posted on the wall of the room: Review scientific method: observations and inferences, testable questions. Atoms: what are they, what are the two components, subatomic particles and their charges, mass vs size, electron arrangement, current model of atom (draw)

The following power point is covering all of November. The first test will be 11/13/14 and will cover motion and forces. The second test will be 11/20/14 and will cover the entire unit. (Unit 4 in text book)
In addition, there will be a project due on 11/21/14. This project will cover all topics from September through November.
